A YouTube video on the Public Forum “Global Nitrous Oxide Budget 2020 and our food system” has been released.

A YouTube video of the Public Forum “Global Nitrous Oxide Budget 2020 and our food system” held on October 29 has been prepared and is now available on our YouTube channel. Please have a look at it.

Summary

Nitrous oxide (N2O) is one of the primary greenhouse gases that contribute toward global warming. Over the years, the level of N2O has increased by over 20% from 270 parts per billion (ppb) in 1750 to 331 ppb in 2018. The increase is expected to double by 2050 due to the growing demand for food, feed, fibers and energy, as well as waste generation and industrial processes.

In this event, the Global Carbon Project (GCP) Tsukuba Office presented the findings of the Global Nitrous Budget 2020. The morning session was held in Japanese and the afternoon session in English. Both sessions provided in-depth knowledge and discussion on the topic. This event was co-organized by GCP, Center for Global Environmental Research (CGER) of NIES; Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science, and the Future Earth Japan Global Hub.
